Pausing a game
Local and CPU games pause any time, and they’re still there after you close the app. An online game pauses only when everyone at the table agrees. It resumes once everyone’s ready.
Dinner’s on the table? Pause.
They match the game’s current settings. The game’s own How to play page always shows the latest.
What happens when a game resumes?
When a paused game resumes, you’re back on the same turn at the same table, with every deed exactly where you left it. Signed-in players can continue on another device.
How do you pause an online game?
Choose Ask to pause. Everyone has to agree, so the game asks the table.
Everyone has to say yes before the vote’s time runs out, and one Keep playing ends the vote. Play carries on meanwhile. If not everyone agrees, or the vote runs out of time, the game goes on.
When everyone says yes, the game’s paused, and your seat’s saved.
How do you start again?
Open the game from Games and tap I’m ready. Play resumes the moment everyone’s ready.
How long does a paused online game wait?
A paused online game waits 14 days, and your seat’s saved the whole time. After that, the players who are ready can start a 48-hour final call.
Anyone who still isn’t ready when it ends forfeits, their deeds go to auction, and the game resumes with everyone else. If everyone else forfeits, the game is yours.
If nobody starts a final call, the game closes, unrated, after 21 days.
What happens if a friend leaves an online game?
Leaving an online game counts as a forfeit, paused or not: their deeds go back to the bank and are auctioned, and the rest of the table plays on. Leave a paused game and your deeds go to auction when play resumes.
If you need to step away, ask the table for a pause instead. A friend who just stops taking turns falls under the missed-turn rule.
